Reclaimed Carved Stone Surround

A beautiful Renaissance style natural white stone surround displaying intricate carved details on the pilasters and frieze.

Be aware that this reclaimed stone fireplace is extremely heavy and needs a sturdy wall to be attached to.  The shelf alone needs four strong men to lift and even that is a struggle so careful planning is needed for transport and installation, but once installed it will be a stunning centrepiece to any grand room.

We’re not certain of the age of the fireplace.  It has previously been installed in a house which dates from the 1930’s. We estimate it is mid 20th century but it could be older.

Like all reclaimed pieces it is sold as seen.  Once installed it would normally be grounded up and filled to cover any minor blemishes – but those blemishes are part of the charm and patina of such a piece.

The surround is available on a supply only basis and purchasers would need to make their own provision for installation, as well as making their own provisions for the full and safe scoring of the fireplace back to the wall.   As a reclaimed piece it does not come with any installation instructions, but we can give advice if needed. Dowels and/or brackets would normally be needed and can be tailored to the individual installation.

The stove in the photo is a reclaimed example of one of our most popular large woodburners the Jotul F400.  That is sold separately, and brand new versions of that stove are available.
