Original cast iron surround with mirrored overmantle

This magnificent Original cast iron fireplace requires a grand room.  It is currently on permanent display, and taking pride of place in our Holmwood barn showroom.

Dimensions to be confirmed but approx 1800 wide, and 2800 tall it is an imposing and impressive piece.

It is also extremely heavy.  The overmantle itself comes apart for transport -but it took 4 men and a set of jacks and blocks to lift it up into position.

Set ups like these do not come up very often at all.  Exquisite detailing.

The paint has been stripped back to the bare cast iron and then the whole has been painted with black paint and grate polished.

The glass is, as far as we can tell, all original and there are some elements of ageing as you’d expect.

There is one finial on the overmantle which has obviously been lost or damaged over the years and this has been replaced with a wooden turned finial to match – it is very difficult to tell unless you hold on to it.
